Routine Checkups and Cleanings
Most patients benefit from a checkup and cleaning every six months, though your dentist may suggest a different schedule based on your needs.
At each visit, we check your teeth, gums, and bite, remove plaque and tartar that brushing can't reach, and take X-rays when they're needed. It's also a good time to ask questions about anything you've noticed.
Emergency Evaluations
If you have a severe toothache, a broken or knocked-out tooth, or swelling in your mouth or face, call us as soon as possible. We'll evaluate the problem, relieve pain, and talk you through your options.
If an adult tooth is knocked out, pick it up by the top (not the root), rinse it gently, and keep it in milk until you can be seen. Getting to a dentist quickly gives the tooth the best chance. If you have swelling with fever or trouble breathing or swallowing, go to the emergency room or call 911.
Night Guards
Many people grind or clench their teeth at night without knowing it. Over time, this can wear down teeth, cause chips, and lead to jaw soreness or morning headaches.
A custom night guard is made from impressions of your teeth, so it fits comfortably and protects your teeth while you sleep.
Sleep Guards for Mild Sleep Apnea
For patients diagnosed with mild obstructive sleep apnea, an oral appliance can be a comfortable alternative to a CPAP machine. It gently positions your lower jaw forward to help keep your airway open while you sleep.
Sleep apnea is diagnosed by a physician, usually with a sleep study. If you've been diagnosed, we can work with your doctor to see whether a sleep guard is right for you.
